Payroll & Benefits Administrator  

Our client requires a Payroll/Benefits Administrator. You will report directly to the Human Resources Manager. This position requires someone who can respond to a variety of requests and prioritize a number of initiatives.

The Position

  • Administration and maintenance of hourly/salaried employee profiles, including updating employee records of pay and/or personnel changes.
  • Processing of payroll transactions on a bi-weekly basis, and cCommunicating with outside vendors in regards to any problems with payroll software and/or transactions.
  • Administer employee benefits.
  • Maintain time & attendance software and train supervisory staff in time & attendance software as required
  • Daily interaction with all levels of employees in organization
  • Compile statistical reports, statements and summaries related to pay, attendance and company population
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Respond to HRDC requests for payroll information
  • Respond to employee enquiries in a timely fashion
  • Perform special projects as required

Qualifications  

  • Post Secondary education in a related discipline; or equivalent combination of experience and education; preference will be given to those with CPA payroll certification
  • Proven experience with Ceridian Payroll systems
  • Minimum 3 years payroll experience
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written
  • Understanding of all applicable legislation and regulations (ex. ESA & tax act)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Computer literate; capable of working with MS Office - Outlook, Word , Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and analytical skills with special attention to detail and accuracy
  • Well developed time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple objectives with challenging timelines
  • The ability to adhere to strict auditing procedures
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced environment, including the capability to lead and manage change
  • Success driven with a bias to continuous improvement and a strong belief in professional growth and development
