Project Manager

The Position  

  • Planning and executing of projects related to new production lines, improvements, upgrades, layouts and new equipment related to machining or assembly
  • Ownership and accountability of the process including documentation, troubleshooting, improvements, maintenance and training
  • Implement process capability improvements and update all relevant documentation
  • Ensure that the process is capable of producing parts to print specifications
  • Deal with suppliers, customers and sub-contract processes
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form, internally and externally
  • Assist in machine set up as required
  • Progress reporting internally and externally, customer contact
  • Preparation of engineering documentation, FMEA and operator instructions
  • Coordination of improvement projects on existing product lines
  • Participation in cost reduction activities applying theories of lean manufacturing
  • Interface with tooling suppliers to coordinate special tools required for start of production
  • Conduct time studies
  • Maintain ongoing process control through quality troubleshooting and process improvement investigation
  • Regular review of all processes and operator instructions for assigned customers to ensure accuracy and conformance to actual procedures and to TS 16949 system

 Qualifications

  • Four (4) year technical degree
  • 5 - 10 years experience working for an automotive supplier involved in a program launch
  • 2+ years technical experience with metal forming, welding and assembly
  • Strong process planning skills for assembly lines with welding, fixtures and gauging.
  • Excellent understanding of PPAP, PSO, SPC, Gauges, GD&T, FMEA, APQP, 8D and problem solving with demonstrated hands on applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CAD software with AutoCAD being the preference
  • Knowledge and understanding of MOST and how to use it for process studies
  • The ability to interact with employees, customers and suppliers and portray a positive company image
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
